About FreeVaults

FreeVaults is an independent publication about how modern post-production actually works — the workflows, systems, and infrastructure behind editorial work, and where they break under pressure.

Most coverage in this space stops at features, releases, and tutorials. FreeVaults reports on the layer underneath: subtitle pipelines, timeline interchange between editing systems, media migration and relinking, shared storage, remote collaboration, and the operational decisions that determine whether a project moves cleanly through post or stalls under technical debt. It is the plumbing most editors only notice when it fails.

The premise is simple. Post-production has quietly become one of the most fragmented disciplines in media: editors now move between several NLEs, subtitle systems, storage platforms, and distributed teams, with little documentation holding any of it together. FreeVaults exists to document that reality with the seriousness it deserves — grounded in production experience, not aggregation.
